Lois's beautiful vintage doily quilt....

Dear quilting friend Lois is making this beautiful vintage doily quilt in the "Quilt as you go " method.
Lois has secured the doilies onto a neutral background by hand, setting each block in their colour and similar embroidery design.
Some doilies will slightly  overlap will be stunning.
I'm sure there's a story behind each doily.....if only these doilies could talk.

Hope you're having a great week..

  1. Such a beautiful Vinage Doily Quilt Lois is making... Look forward to seeing it finished.

  2. How very pretty. Good use of the pieces and parts. A very feminine look.

  3. It's going to be amazing. In fact it's looking rather wonderful at this early stage.

  4. Wow, what a gorgeous quilt this will be! I've never seen vintage linens put together so beautifully!

  5. What a lovely idea for a project. Definitely lots of stories in those pieces.

  6. Hi Julia, It has been ages, far too long since I stopped by to visit you! I am interested in Lois' doiley quilt; you featured a doiley quilt by someone else (Laura?) some time ago too. I have inherited a huge amount of linens from a deceased dear friend who was a collector like me, and I am thinking of making a doiley quilt with some of her linens, to donate to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer centre, where she passed away. They could display it or raffle it to raise funds. But first I have to make a start on it! Does Lois have a tutorial anywhere?
