Those of you that have been following my blog for some time, might remember these photos of my beautiful granddaughter Melissa when in Peru.
She took off in March of 2007 for a couple of years to see the world,
She loves deep sea diving and worked for a couple of years in north Queensland taking people down for dives, the big turtles used to come to her and she thus earned the name of 'The Turtle Lady'.
Mel did some great dives in the waters of the Mediterranean....and visited Malta where we came from.
She started her adventure off in Melbourne to visit her mum for a week before setting off for Mexico with a girlfriend, they spent a month there and then went on to Peru.
They went to Colca Canyon and saw Condors, the largest flying bird in the world, and then up 4000 metres to do the Inca trail..
Well this beautiful free spirit of ours surprised us all by getting engaged on Christmas day to her long time boyfriend...we are so happy for them both. She had gone back to school to become a primary school teacher, just 6 months left to her graduation...and now at 28 years old, I think getting ready to settle down and maybe ( smile) start a family soon.
Not knowing what to give her as an engagement present I asked her what quilt she liked and Mel picked my repro tumbler quilt..." I really love this one Nana" she said. so I quickly with great pleasure added a label and presented it to her with love from Nana and Grandad...
I can see a wedding quilt being made very soon......♥

How exciting for you all. She looks like your double. Congratulations.
Congratulations to you all. Look like she is very happy with her quilt.
I'm a firm believer in encouraging young people to get out and see the world (if they can finance it) before they settle down to a domestic life with a job and family. It sounds like Melissa has done just that. Good for her! She'll never regret seeing those places, and will remember them all her life. You're a wonderful Nana to pass along that quilt to her. You can be very proud of yourself. Excellent ! I hope Melissa and her fiance/husband have a happy and successful marriage.
Congratulations to the couple! That's a beautiful quilt she's wrapped in. It must have been so much fun for her going on adventure like that.
Congratulations! I love your Tumbler Quilt. What size are the tumblers? I'm making one as well, I have about 8 more rows to put together (hand piecing that part) before I add to what I've already got done. I love this type of quilt. Your quilt is beautiful as is your granddaughter.
What a lovely granddaughter-and a lovely quilt too-you are both lucky

Julia, Mel is lovely! How wonderful to have realized so many of her dreams and now to be engaged. You all must be so happy. This is a lovely quilt and suits her perfectly.
