DP's update...auditioning medallion piece..

Hmmm...not sure if I like this.. those top blocks are not how they will be pieced together!

I think it needs more on the centre medallion, of course I still need to make lots more DP blocks...this centre piece measures 16" sq...I could go bigger to 24"and add more to it, but that means a bigger quilt to balance it it out....The medallion centre piece is inspired by a quilt pattern called Museum Medallion by Judy Newman....Judy's design is based on a beautiful quilt made in the early 1800's and exhibited in a London Museum.

I was thinking I would hand-quilt it in the Quilt-as -you go method...one section at a time.

Must think about this one a bit more..♥

  1. What a gorgeous center medallion Julia! I think it is big enough with the light color around it.

  3. I agree with you, I think the centre medallion is a little lost with the DP. Could you put a border around it to make it more of a feature?

  4. In MHO, if you aren't pleased with something, you should make changes before it is too late, because your instincts are usually right.
I think it looks great - I love the scrappy DP's, and they go so well with the center. It all really depends on how big the quilt will be. Good luck.♥

  8. It's looking beautiful but I know if you're not finished with the center, you'll do something fabulous.

  12. The center is wonderful! If I understand correctly, you are thinking you need some further separation before the circle type blocks come into the quilt. Maybe a band of some kind. Those medallion quilts can get big fast!
