This and That...UFO's

Remember this quilt...well, I'm trying to finish off some UFO's...so... .... I decided that as lovely as the pinwheels were.....I thought they were all a bit too much. They can become another quilt some time in the future...
Sorry, this is not a good picture, I have been having trouble with my camera...would love a new one...hint, hint!

I had this lovely floral strip border fabric and added a 5 inch border...... ....just enough to give it a nice finish and make it that little bit bigger without too much work!....♥

Another Doll Quilt

This doll quilt was a UFO too...all it needed was one more apple core...can't believe I left it that long with just one apple core to do....

It measures 17" x 13"....I hand-quilted around the apple cores and hand-quilted a curvy two rows on the border, echoing the apple cores...

Feels so good to be getting these UFO's finished...

Have a lovely weekend...I think I'll take a break and enjoy some sunshine tomorrow, maybe check out some cameras....♥

  1. Just plain without a border would have been lovely - I must say I do love the pinwheels. Your little dolly quilt is lovely!

  2. Julia, both quilts are lovely. The floral border on your big quilt really suits it and the hand quilting hits the spot on the second.

  4. A lovely choice to finish the big quilt. Comparing the pictures, the pinwheels did look a little too busy.
Love the blue border around the apple cores.

  8. I liked the pinwheel border but can see that the floral border was a better choice.
And hard to believe you had left the doll quilt with only one apple core to finish. But finished it is now. And even hand quilted!

  11. good for you. Doesn't it feel great when UFOs are out of the way? That doll quilt is adorable. At last I found someone who does some hand quilting!! That's rare these days.

  12. Wow. That would have been a tough choice to leave the pinwheels off. But I think it now has a bit of a modern vibe instead of super traditional. Well done!

  13. Love that doll quilt and love your other one, too. I'm thinking I might be in the minority but I feel the pincushions would have made it too busy and would have distracted from the main part of the quilt, so I'm glad you left them off and will use them elsewhere. Happy camera shopping!!!

  15. I know that feeling Julia. Many a time I leave things for the sake of just a little bit of extra effort to finish. Love the dolly quilt and your french braid. The new border looks good. I need to take a leaf out of you rbook and get some more finishes.

  16. You have a wonderful vision of the right finishes for your quilts, Julia. The pinwheels would have been fine, but floral border fabric is a perfect edge.

I'm not a hand quilter--yet--but made note of your simple and appropriate quilting with your sweet little apple cores. The quilting doesn't have to be elaborate, does it? Another lovely Julia finish.

  20. The border fabric is very beautiful, what good use for it. I'd like that good feeling of getting another couple of projects out of the way but then I'd just add a couple more anyway.
    The doll quilt is adorable.

  23. Very nice, Julia. I like the floral border. I think it really brings out the braids in your quilt center.

Thanks for your kind words on my quilt design. I hope you can get the magazine too. I think you can get "The Quilter" which is Fabric Trend's sister magazine... so, it should stand to reason you can get Fabric Trends too.
