Off to Japan....this Bento Box Quilt..

My heart goes out to the people in Japan who going through such sadness and hardships right now...

Christine of Once Upon a Quilt, has posted that there is a great need for Quilts to be sent to Japan, Patchwork Tsushin, a leading Japanese quilt magazine. is asking for quilts.
This Bento Box quilt was made from Japanese fabrics that were left over from my Japanese quilt ( below ) that I made back in 2008.

The above quilt was a nice easy one to make... I really enjoyed making it, but not one that I would make to keep for myself... but for some reason I kept it....saving it for something...this must be it.

The Bento Box quilt is off to Japan Monday morning...I hope it brings some comfort and warmth to a dear person...

Thank you for the link to the address for sending quilts. It's heartbreaking to see the suffering as the stories from Japan are told.

  13. I love the first quilt Julia, and the second one will be loved by a grateful Japanese person somewhere over there. I have a box full of Japanese themed fabrics that I plan to make something with one day, but I doubt if mine will be as complex as yours! I thought of using the directions you sent me to use some of my Japanese fabrics.
How is everything at your end? Ken is struggling at the moment, but I keep telling him it will get better in time. Easy for me to say..

  14. Aren't you just a sweetheart for giving away your beautiful quilt!? Julia, that's simply touching. It makes me appreciate, even more, that quilters around the world are being so sympathetic toward the Japanese. I've cried more than once about all this, feeling completely inadequate to comprehend the monumental suffering. Thank YOU for doing what you can to help. You're wonderful.
