Magic Happens...in more ways than one...

Dear son #2 loves this quilt...it's magic!
Every one in the family have quilts made by me...except son #2...every time I've asked him if he'd like me to make him a quilt, ...he'd say "no, it's OK Mum"..

He just happened to pop in the other day while I was pinning it, getting it ready for quilting, he asked who it was for..."no one in particular" I said "do you like it?"

"Yes, I really like it...it's so different from what you normally make"...I said " it's flowers "..."he said, but it's bright and colourful"..."it's yours! "I said ..

There you go, perhaps I have finally broken out of my comfort zone...it makes me happy that son #2 likes it...at last he has a quilt made by me..it's magic!

I couldn't make up my mind what colour thread to quilt it with, black or white ...so I just quilted it in the ditch, as I didn't want stitching all over taking away from the under and over basket weave effect...scrappy binding adds a nice finish..

I loved making it, so easy and quick..I can see myself making another!

Now to finish off DD Pies quilt...

Have a nice day...♥

  1. Hi Julia, so glad your son loves his quilt. Isn't it nice when things just seem to go right and things fall into place. sue~n.z.

  2. Isn't it just wonderful when "what was meant to be" just falls into place? You were meant to make that bright and colourful quilt, and son #2 was meant to see it and claim it. Life doesn't get any simpler than that. If it was meant to be, it will be.
I agree that stitching in the ditch really was all it needed, Julia. Good call, and well done!

  17. Super you finally made a quilt your son likes to have. It is a different quilt with beautiful colours and not to soft because of the dark edges. I can understand why he likes it.
