Civil War Block # 6

Civil war block # 6...Richmond is done...

This one is a bit tricky..for me, it ended up a bit on the big side, to trim back was to lose the points...not good!
So I unpicked and re-sized it..and this is how it's going to stay...done!

I just don't get the 3/16th...7/16 th's and all that in between measurements.

If you go to the flickr group and read the comments, there are a few helpful hints to work this one out and make it easier to do......♥

  1. Very pretty, Julia. I love your attention to precision! From Linda, who's blog-hopping while everyone else in the USA watches the Superbowl.

  5. Love that block Julia. Those blues, browns and reds would fit in with my blocks beautifully. Is it looking for a new home?

  6. What a pretty block! The more pieces and seams you have, the harder it is to get something to come out right!

  9. Julia this is a great block. Mine is cut out ready to be sewn but I tried working out my own cutting measurements and in the end just cut it out as stated but I will measure each finished section as I go. Thanks for the tip and I will check out Flikr. Take care!

  10. I'm getting so tempted to jump in and do those Civil War blocks! Did you make all of the quilts in your banner? I'm impressed!

    Happy stitching!

  11. The Richmond block looks good to me even if you had a lot of trouble getting it to come out right.

  15. I'm warned in advance, and I appreciate it. I'm catching up on my CW blocks, and this one will definitely be last, after reading the comments and your warning about measurements.
None of my favorite measurements end in /16. I prefer /2 or /4, and on a rare day, /8.

  16. Your block is just lovely, I love the colors you chose. Don't you hate it when those points get cut off?

  17. This was my favorite block to make so far! I love the piecing. It was like putting together a puzzle. I hung it on my design wall and kept looking at it, thinking how much fun this would be to make a whole quilt from!
