Finished..it's a quilt!

"In a Spin" is finished....isn't she lovely.
It's been a long time since I finished a quilt from start to finish without it being a UFO!
Way back when I first started quilting, this is what I would do...I would get so into whatever quilt I was working on , I would keep working on it till it was finished.
I might do that from time to time, but having said that, it is nice to have some hand sewing on the go and occasionally you do feel the need to start something new...
It's been very overcast the last few days, so this photo just does not do the beautiful bright jewel colours justice.....they don't sparkle as much as they would on a bright sunny day.

Perhaps I'll use it as a lap quilt or as a summer table topper for when family visit...we love sitting out under the patio.
I ended up doing a loopy free motion meander with parallel stitching down the piano keys border.
Thank you everyone that left lovely encouraging comments, while I stepped out of my comfort zone for a bit of quilting fun...
Have a lovely day....♥

  16. Once again; it's a really stunning quilt. I admire you for sticking with it and finishing so quickly.

Just yesterday I invited a friend over for sewing, and before I knew it I'd pulled out at least ten UFOs in various stages of completion... and I though I was a finisher! We had a lengthy discussion about what might cause that problem - not finishing. I'm trying to work through how to deal with that in 2011. I don't want to leave a big pile of UFOs for my family to have to deal with after I'm gone!

Thanks for sharing your quilting with us. You're an inspiration.

  25. It's a beautiful quilt Julia. I absolutely LOVE scrap quilts - they're my favorite to make. I learned quilting from my grandmother and I remember her only one time actually purchasing fabric for a quilt so I think using scraps is in my blood. Very well done.

  33. It turned out so wonderfully.

Sometimes it's fun to see what we can accomplish when working on one thing at a time. But sometimes the new projects just call too loudly...
