Last week at the show I bought this new tool... the lady that designed it was here from the States doing a demo on it. It looked so easy to use, I've always want to do a Drunkards Path quilt, so I thought I would give this a go...

Here are my little test pieces...I must say, I'm very impressed with it...no pinning, no marking, no clipping seams...it can also be used to sew straight 1/4 inch seams perfectly....great!
I even tried it on a couple of apple cores....just think, if I do another apple core quilt, how easy it would be. It comes with different size detachable shanks so that it could be used on most sewing machines...you can read a bit more about it
here..Happy sewing....♥
What a great new gadget to add to your sewing room Julia. So glad you are happy with the results. Hope you and Reno have a very good week.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you made a very wise purchase! I will look at the link you provided for further information about it....thanks.
ReplyDeletethanks for the info!!
ReplyDeleteI'v always wanted to just sew curves, so maybe this is the gadget for me...?

Julia that looks like a handy little tool...
ReplyDeleteWow,I bought one of those some years ago and never took it out of the package. I wonder where the heck I put it? Well, sounds like you've inspired me to clean my sewing room. Karmen
ReplyDeleteOh yes I have that tool and I keep forgetting to use it. I did use it on a quilt with great results.
ReplyDeleteI saw that foot demo'd last year and I took her card so I could remember to go back to the booth and yet, I completely forgot!!
ReplyDeleteI just found the card this weekend while I was looking through some books and then today you post the review. What a coincidence!
Terrific curves. I watched that demo last year and again this year but was too afraid to buy one. Fear of failure strikes deep!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the test report, Julia. I have read about it in an Australian suppliers newsletter and wondered how good it would be. It's not cheap, so I haven't been game to buy it. I'll put it on my wish list now. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a great help for sewing curves. My friends are also happy with it. I had one but it would not fit on my Bernina. No matter what we tried it just would not work. All other Bernina owners were happy with it so I am still puzzled why my machine did not accept it. Anyway I sold it in the end and bought a Bernina foot that works almost the same.
ReplyDeleteThat certainly looks to be a great tool Julia - and what you have sewn - really nice!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, now this is extremely cool!!!
ReplyDeleteFor a rank beginner, I do things the hard way.. I did a Drunkards Path block in my patchwork class last year - hand stitched. Didn't know there was any other way to do it!
ReplyDeleteJulia, you might be able to help me - my Singer Hushmatic is nearly 50 years old and only does straight and zig zag stitches, which I'm happy with. When I used it for my little quilt, the fabric puckered in places, and someone told me I should have used a quilting foot on my machine. Is my old Singer too old to take these special attachments?
I bought one of those gadgets a few years ago and didn't seem to get it to work properly at all. Now I have seen what a good job you have done it might be time to reaquaint myself with it and have another go.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this...I'm off to read more!

ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
ReplyDeletel have this gadget and am yet to try it. If you say its easy, maybe l need to give it a shot. Curves would be my most disliked seams to sew. Thanks for the tip.
Linda.
Wow what a great tool. I'm going to look for it.
ReplyDeleteOh yes....I saw this demo on the Quilt TV last year and wondered if it really worked as good as it seemed!!! Now we know!!!
