Big Finish..

Apple Core quilt is finished..yippee!..

I was getting a bit tired of working on this quilt, I had already made an Apple Core repro lap size quilt...so as this one was never going to be that big, it's now a new table topper...and I love it! The binding is all pieces of the scraps, cut on the bias and I just quilted around the cores a 1/4 inch in from the seams..

Funny how my tastes have changed so much...once I was into all country quilts, I do still like them , but I find myself leaning more now towards the vintage old style of scrappy quilts....the style that folk used to make out of left over fabrics and old clothing.
We buy gorgeous fabrics and don't really use old clothing or left overs, as specially as most of us don't dress make anymore, as for me, I'd rather be quilting than dressmaking....we are so lucky to have those beautiful repro fabrics out there...and such a big choice!

Ok, so it's out with the old and in with the new...This old topper has been on this table for quite a number of years. Hand appliqued in the country style with black blanket stitch...I still love her, could never part with her and I will use her from time to time, but it's time for a change..

Here she is all washed and wrinkled up...
... matches the Crinoline 1930's runner on the dresser that I finished off earlier in the year..

Family coming for lunch....must get things started..
Have a wonderful day..♥

  1. How beautiful the apple core table topper/runner are Julia. The colors are so warm and cozy. A friend of my mom's still has a quilt that her mom made her from dresses she had as a little girl. I love her telling me the story of each of the fabrics.
I love the bias edged trim you finished yours with.
I hope you and your family have a lovely lunch. My love to everyone.

  5. These are all very pretty, Julia. I've been admiring the apple core projects you have been sharing, I really like your selection of the 20-30's era fabrics. I've hesitated to try one because of the curves, but yours are so tempting!
The one you are pulling off the table is great too!

  8. It is beautiful. I love the colors but I have a hard time doing scrappy. I guess I am not a free enough spirit to just do it.

If our tastes didn't change we would never have to make something new!!
