Day One...2010

We nearly saw the new year in playing pool / snooker at son #2's place....I tried but could not stay up that late!
Do you remember that great big shed he had built early last year...well it's more of a man's big play room, a drinks bar and stools, his old 1961 Holden ute, pool table, B-B-Q...everything a man's needs...so I'm told!
I nearly won a game of pool, but our little 8 yr old visitor from Brazil beat me...he's so cute!

2010..Day one, and what a great start to the new year!...if it's true, that how you start the year is how you will spend the rest of it.... I'm happy with that!
It was hot outside, so I sat under the air-con and thought I would make a start on hand-quilting my Dresden /Dancing Dollies quilt...
It's going to be a big project, so I guess doing this for most of this new year will be a lovely relaxing project to do...especially during the cold winter months..
Hope you all have made a good start to the year...doing something you love..
Until next time..take care ..♥

  11. This is such a beauty! Your day in the 'boy's club' sounds like fun, but it's funny for me to hear you sweet folks in Australia needing the AC. here in CA, I'm not in snow, but it's a chilly 62 in the house. Maybe I should go sit in the sun!

  12. My son is looking at building himself one of those 'sheds'. I still love that quilt you are doing and it will be great to work on when the nights are cold. I was looking at your side bar on your blog and noticed the gorgeous box like design and am wondering do you have it on your blog anywhere for me to have a good look at it? Its beautiful! It's under My Published Work. What magazine issue was it in too please?

  14. Gorgeous Julia, I can't wait to see how you decide to quilt it, something I always take note of. Your family day sounds like fun. Had to laugh about the boys shed, I saw an Aussie book on just that subject somewhere.

  19. I too hope it is true that what we do on the first day of the year will be what we do most of the year. I managed to spend some time quilting myself. Your dresden and dolls are absolutely wonderful and your hand quilting will really make it a treasure to have!
