Zig-Zag Quilt...Bye 2009

Happy New Year

Hope every one's got over Christmas, getting geared up for the new year and all the lovely new project ideas swimming around in your head.....I believe Australia will be one of the first countries to welcome in the New Year, New Zealand may be just a few hours ahead of us...it will be a fairly quiet start to the new year for us, a B-B-Q with son #2 planned.

Well, this is as big as the zig-zag quilt is going to be...I decided to make it into a table topper.
The quilt started out just to use up some left over blocks from a mystery quilt I did with Bonnie of Quiltville, I have added a few more rows, but there are SO many tiny pieces.....I've added a border and this is as big as it's going to be.
I do love this zig-zag pattern, I'm sure it can be simplified with less tiny pieces...I'll have a little play with it after New Year..

It's been so hot here.... terrible fires swept through our beautiful Toodyay wheat belt area just in the last couple of days...37 homes were lost, some people were hurt....Please spare a thought for those that lost everything in the fire, it's a sad time, and our thoughts are with them..

Thank you for a wonderful year of blogging friendships..
If your out and about New Year's ...Best wishes, and blessings, have fun, stay safe...

  2. Julia, I heard about the fires today on the news. I wanted to send out a post to all my friends living in Australia but I thought that might be over-doing it a tad bit. So I held y'all close in my heart and continue to do so. Your table topper is adorable - as always! Reflecting your personality I say. :) Enjoy the BBQ with son #2 and here's to a great New Year. Looking forward to the lovely makings that come from Julia's Place in the New Year.

Love the zig zag quilt. Must put that on 2010 list and use up some of the stash.
Thoughts are with all those in the fire zone and especially those who have lost homes. Sending rain over from Brisbane where it has been falling since Christmas day.

  14. Hi Julia. I love your zig zag quilt, it is gorgeous. I can't believe how bad those fires ended up being and I can't imagine what those poor families are going through. I wish I could send some of our rain, we have had an unusually large amount since just before Christmas. All the best to you and I hope 2010 is a wonderful year for you. xx

  19. Here's to a wonderful healthy happy new year with lots of sewing. I think sometimes a quilt will tell you when it's done, they don't all have to be big. This looks great. We live with these fires every year but it's always so sad when we hear of the losses.

  22. I love zig zags in quilts. Those roses are killing me. It is so cold here. Days like this make me wish it was summer at Christmas.
