Quilt Festival....my entry

Amy of Park City Girl is hosting another Quilt Festival...lots of fun!

I thought I would enter my Japanese Quilt that won me a third prize at our big craft and quilt show in 2007....sorry it's not a very good photo!

The centre Kimono medallion piece was designed by Stephanie Novatski, a dear SRE friend, who kindly gave me permission to use it on my quilt...the rest is all my own design.

I researched the symbols for the quilt to get a better understanding of their culture, it was fun and inspirational to do.

Mostly hand pieced and all hand-quilted in fabrics that I bought in Melbourne while visiting our DD ...
Pop over to Amy's and check out the beautiful quilt eye candy....♥

  2. Hi Julia, I have not known you long enough to have seen this lovely quilt before. What an intricate pattern - it's beautiful. It must have been fun to study the culture and then purchase the fabrics for such an exquisite Japanese quilt. Hoping you feel better/stronger today. Give my best to your entire family.

  12. This is a lovely creation. Congrat's on winning a prize with it. The colors in this project are such a departure from the ones I usually see you working on. You're a woman of surprises, Julia. This quilt is beautiful, but that's no surprise.

  17. My friend, this is an absolutely amazing work of art. This is the first time I've seen this and, well, it simply takes my breath away. It's inspiring although I know I could never create something like this because I don't have it within me. Nothing against Karen - just know my limits. Faithfully Yours, *karendianne.
