Dresden's & Dollies...a perfect match!

Back to my Dresden's...
well, I tossed up and deliberated for hours, as what to use for the borders for my Dresden Plate quilt.

Auditioned different fabrics, colour choices, as above...but !....
I kept going back to this book, "The Fabric of Society" by Annette Gero...and the beautiful 1830's Dancing Dollies coverlet in the book....and to have the pattern in the book to use is a bonus!

There's so much to read, in this book, and so inspirational.....I loved reading about our Aussie quilting history. I really knew nothing about our quilt history before receiving this book.

Above is the coverlet... and here is the beginning of my dancing dollies border...I had to resize the dollies a bit to make them fit the quilt...
I think the Dresden's and Dollies compliment each other and are a perfect match!....

Must go...can't wait to get back to the dollies!
Have a lovely day....♥

  6. It looks like you've made a perfect choice for the border. They definitely complement each other wonderfully! They're so unique.

"The Fabric of Society" is intriguing. I don't need any more quilting books, but historical ones are fascinating me lately. I'm keeping an eye open for any reduced price I may find for it here in the USA. No luck so far. Maybe I'll put it on my Christmas list!

  24. I love the border! and I'm very impressed-I tried to do that on a quilt a few years ago but ran into problems getting the corners to fit-I gave up and to be honest, it still sits unbordered! :)
