Quilted...

Well, after a nervous start on this quilt yesterday...it's all quilted!
It took me the best part of the afternoon to do, I just kept going while it was flowing nicely, until it was done.

Looks like all my quilts, for a while anyway, will have this loops and hearts design.....I'm just too scared to try anything else, this design seems to flow very easily for me and I do like it!

I had this lovely soft green toile fabric which is perfect for the backing...I'm happy to add that the backing is nice and flat...says me feeling very proud of myself!
I wasn't sure what quilting to do on the centre medallion, so I just stippled around the applique....there are just a few loose threads to tidy up here where I had to stop and start
I think this is not too bad, so until I get a bit more confidence and comfortable with the frame this will have to be it... for this quilt anyway!
This quilt would have been lovely hand-quilted, but I just don't have the time....so many other projects I need to get on with..
Ok, it's Girlfriends day at Lurline's today, must go and get ready.
Have a lovely day...♥

  5. What a great thing when it's FINISHED! It doesn't matter how you quilt it as long as it's done! BTW: I love the quilting. You aced it!
I used to take forever to think about the quilting and for the longest time the top would sit around because I too am intimidated by the process but my modo this year is 'get it finished', so I'm going with what feels comfortable and goes quickly. There are many all over designs (like your hearts and loops) that make the quilt look just as beautiful as those designs that take forever to get done. Congrats on your completed quilt. It looks wonderful!!

  11. Lovely quilting, Julia. When I find a design I'm comfortable doing, I use it and use it and use it, and with all that quilting comes confidence, plus the pride in quilting it myself.
    Enjoy the girlfriends day.

  18. Well I'm impressed!!! I love the hearts and loops and I think I may have mentioned this before... I personally think its a good idea to stick with what feels comfortable was you get your "flow" down. The new stuff will come. Of course, being the experienced quilter you are, I think you already know that aspect of the learning process. I didn't offer anything profound here. Maybe just a little reminder. Also, I think you did a stand out job on that stippling. Did you find that difficult at all?

  21. Your quilting is lovely Julia...the swirls and little hearts are sooo perfect. I too am a little nervous about machine quilting...I have a table runner that has been sandwiched and basted ready for a while to practice on...still trying to talk myself into it!!!
