Dear Jane...section #9 done, now quilting..

Oh it's so cold here...it's the last day of winter....roll on summer!

Yesterday was so cold and drab, a good day to be in and finish the last of my DJ blocks...oh, feels so good to have them done. I really struggled with the last few....in the end I took the easy way out and picked the easiest ones in the variations on the DJ CD...you could say "I did it my way".
It took no time to sandwich and pin the section and last night it was lovely to finally be hand-quilting the last section...
While I sit and quilt it I'll think about the borders...

Hope you have a lovely day.... the housemaid (me) slacked off last week so I really need to clean today....♥

  1. Congratulations Julia. Are you hand quilting it? It's good to quilt as you go. Lovely section. I like the colours you used - Hugs Natima

  2. Oh Julia, it is pretty.

I am the "housemaid" too but we joke and when I fail to do something, we say that "Teresa" forgot to do it!!! haha

You just need to start blaming Teresa when something does not get done!!!

  3. Are you doing that "quilt as you go" and then joining each section somehow? I want to try that someday but haven't yet......been a bit scared of it. Your blocks look terrific!!!

  7. Beautiful quilt. I'm sure that quilt as you go is much more manageable.

  9. You continue to progress so well on DJ. I wish I'd eliminated some of the blocks as you have. I'd be closer to being finished and could concentrate on other projects.
The housemaid around here should be fired --she's definitely been ignoring the condition of the house. Quilting time is much preferred.

  12. Well done Julia!!

You'll be enjoying the use of this quilt very soon.

You could still do the triangles in the border, but rather than the pieced triangles, do a plain muslin triangle with the CW triangle next to it all the way around, then still do a scalloped binding.

The plain triangles can have different quilting patterns in each one to give a special effect.

  14. Your DJ is very beautiful. Is the quilt as you go the same as Georgia Bonesteel's Lapquilting? I'll bet you can't wait to see it all together.
