I

At first I was so scared to use the quilting frame, but now I can't wait to do another quilt on it....
C&CC is nearly finished now...border is quilted, just need to hand stitch back the binding..
Here is how I marked and quilted the border.
First I marked in a centre line down the length of the border. Out of template plastic I made a cigar shape template... 5 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide in the middle.
With a Hera marker, starting from the middle and working out to the sides,I drew in the cigar shape.

Then simply stitched in the design on the lines...so easy, I was able to stitch continuously all the way around...first going in an up and down ~ fashion, then going back and doing another ~ to connect the cable design..

I'm really happy how it finished up...it's got a lovely slight puffy look about it, just like the old style quilts have when they are washed..
Now to sit a while and stitch back the binding

wow...that looks nice
The quilting around the border looks great Julia. When you are ready to except any quilts please let me know?
Julia, this is really pretty - so happy you are feeling comfortable now with the new frame. Thanks for sharing the close up pictures - I just love the look.
Wow!! You have mastered the quilting machine so quickly!! In the two weeks I was AWOL you have jumped forward in leaps and bounds. Well done, Julia!!!
I KNEW you could do it.......terrific job!!!
Good for you! What a feeling of accomplishment for a job well done!

(I would love to have a frame....)
Very well done...next time though leave that quilt on the frame! You can do it!! Also...at some point you will want to stitch binding on the quilt on the frame too so you don't have to drag it to your DSM. :-)
I thought you were going to quilt the final border on the machine. You certainly did a good job. I never have had any luck marking with a hera marker.
The Border looks Great...must get me one of those Markers...they look like they work a treat...
cheers
Your quilt looks amazing Julia and you have done a wonderful job for a first time on the quilting machine. I'm thinking I should come over for lessons....vbg.
Oh it looks wonderful, you should be so pleased with yourself. Super job!!
Oh Julia, how lovely. Thanks for sharing your marking tips, too. Just look at the corner close up, too will ya?! I love it. Your piecing is perfect and the quilting really is so sweet & flowing ~ it makes the quilt. Just like "they" say it should. (have you found "they" yet? I still don't know why "they" are!) hee hee.
Definitely. Wow. That is just so neat. I'm still for hearts and loops. It's a darn good way to lasso my heart. :)
What a lovely border and I love your quilting!

Julia, you are a wonder. I can't believe that's your first one, it looks so good. I'm not really surprised though I knew you'd be great.
