Auditioning Borders..

Not sure which way to go with the borders...
Is the birdie fabric a bit too much...I'm thinking a narrow brown border, then the Jacob's Ladder border and then perhaps the birdie fabric again...
Wish I could get some of the teal green, that would be nice for a change to my normal browns...but not sure that it's available anymore.

Off to think about it a bit more...♥

  1. I like the brown one because it emphasizes the birdie fabric in the pieced border. Good luck choosing! The Quilt looks great!

  2. Both are lovely but I think the plain brown frames the "picture" more dramatically! Beautiful quilt!

  3. I have to say I like the brown as well. I think it gives more definition and frames it nicely. I love the teal green in it.

  4. I vote for the brown! I like your quilt very much. It immediately caught me eye when I saw the little picture on the side of my blog.

  5. I love the birdie fabric--I have a snall strip and I wish I had a bolt. But in your border, it's distracting. I'm with everyone else, I'd use the brown.

  7. You know I am brutally honest - nuh, go the teal - only 3/4" or 1" any gorgeous teal, then the birdie fabric for the border - wonderful!
    Am I still your friend?

  8. Being a big fan of brown, I guess I would have to say that looks good. The whole quilt is quite lovely and I'm sure you will end up with something just right!

  10. Hi Camille

I too vote for the brown or at least a solid color. Too much going on with a print. I will be anxious to see how you finish it. You have such great taste it will be gorgeous no matter what you pick.

  11. Your quilt is beautiful! I think the brown on the outside shows off the pieced border better! :0)

  12. make the brown inside border narrower by 1/2 and then I would go the wide brown again but if you want to use the birdy fabric have another thin brown border after the squares and then the birdy fabric............goodluck

  13. Julia, I've been watching you build this quilt...I love it!

From where I'm sitting the beautiful birdie fabric gets lost and the quilt doesn't finish.
I'm with Lurline on the small teal border first...
I think if you add any more 'birdie' it will draw your eye away from the lovely on point squares...
I think I'd finish with a brown, but maybe a lighter one like the one on the bottom LHS (and bind in your darker brown).
Geez I just cost you more money...lol

    My 2 cents.
I know whatever you do will be gorgeous Julia!!

  14. Sorry to add my 2cents worth but I am going with Lurline & the Teal...even though I love Brown I'm not sure about it for the Border it is quite dark...I would pull another colour from the Bird fabric as a border to brighten it up...love your new piccie by the way...
    cheers
I think I just cost you more money too...sorry.!!!

  15. I like the idea of teal also or a different shade of brown! It will be beautiful! It is always so fun to see these quilts come together! :)

  16. I would go for emphasizing the teal in the quilt and then go with what you said you wanted to do. The teal would make it so lovely!

  18. I would go with the teal myself. It will brighten up the quilt. You have lot of brown already, but that just me.

  19. I love the brown, it really sets of the squares and frames the entire quilt very nicely.
