A dear patchwork friend shared this sewing caddy with me...
It's so easy to make, I think I made this one in under an hour, and it's perfect for me to take to the gathering..
Purchase a rectangular table mat...this one cost me just $2.

Fold it in half to mark the centre.
Place different size zip lock bags on either side of the marked centre....place the bigger bags underneath and graduated smaller ones on top. If some bags are too big, just cut the bottom off them, the bottom will get stitched in.
Now, place a pretty one inch wide braid or a one inch tube of fabric over the centre, pin down, making sure to catch in the bottom of the bags.
Stitch in place down both sides of the braid.
I also stitched on some ribbon ties to the front, and that's it!
How easy is that, I think it would be nice to have a couple with different little projects on hand to grab and take with you on sewing days away..

That's so quick and easy Julia. An inexspensive item for fetes etc. as well. As soon as I get a mat, I'll be making one. Or more. Thank you and your friend.
What a good idea Julia. Having just bought more zip lock bags this morning (can't have to many...lol) I might just have to have a play. Thanks for the tip. See you next week.

What a good idea, thank you for sharing. I like the idea of having one for each project.
What a great idea, thanks for sharing that.
Such a novel project. I will have to make one of these. Thanks for sharing.
that is an AWESOME idea..in fact.. I may need to make a few of them.. if you don't have a table mat - I bet a heavy fabric with stiff interfacing would work too.
